Context
Public Health Inspectors spend the day in the field: food premises, water sources and disease reports.
Every visit produced a paper form. Summaries reached the Ministry weeks later.
The problem
- Nobody could see the current state of anything without phoning around.
- Enforcement decisions rested on records that could not be shown to be unaltered.
- Inspectors often had no signal, so they could not check what a regulation said while on site.
Outcomes
- Live at phipro.lk.
- Available in Sinhala, Tamil and English.

What we would do differently
We planned Sinhala and Tamil as a later phase. That was wrong. Retrofitting longer scripts into an English layout cost more than designing for them from the first screen.
Planning something similar?
Tell us what you are working on. We start by understanding the problem, the people, and the systems involved.
